VIP Opening Night: The Official (Fashionably Late) Debrief

Look, I know this blog is arriving a little later than planned… but so do most great debriefs. No one wants the morning-after voice note. You want the proper catch-up, where everyone’s finally recovered, and the group chat is awake again.

So, now that my feet have forgiven me, here it is: the VIP opening night debrief…

First things first: the entrance

If you were there, you know.

If you weren’t…imagine walking into a food hall and immediately being handed handmade sushi rolls by BCF like you’re the main character, paired with free drinks on arrival… what could have been better?

Seeing our builders arrive as VIPs was a moment in itself. They’ve seen this space through every stage: the dust, the noise, and now they were here to celebrate the finished version. Without them, we wouldn’t have been here.

We had DJ Jack, who understood the assignment: keep the energy high, keep the shoulders moving, and make sure nobody leaves without having a boogie.

The digital graffiti wall became the hotspot. Half art installation, half therapy session. People were drawing, doodling, and dare I say, destroying the wall with their designs?

And then…the lion dancers arrived, instantly shifting the energy. It was like a burst of colour, watching the lions bless our new Food Partners.

And one of my favourite touches. We served custard ice cream that nods to Alfred Work’s history, as it was previously a custard factory owned by Alfred Bird. It felt like honouring the past while celebrating our future.

And the wafters stamped with the Cream Store logo? A subtle preview of the authentic retail clothing brands joining us very soon.

Every Food Partner brought their own personality to the night. The flavours, the colours, the aromas… it was a sensory map of what our food hall is becoming. People were discovering, sharing, comparing, and going back for seconds.

Now that our VIP night has been celebrated, debriefed, and emotionally processed, we can finally turn our attention to the Easter break and the events ahead. If this night has taught us anything… it’s that people are ready. Ready to gather, ready to explore, and ready to make this place part of their routine.

So, that’s the debrief done. Easter, we’re coming for you.
