At Blend Family, we believe in crafting unforgettable food experiences that celebrate the brilliance of independent chefs, makers, and dreamers. Our mission? Simple: bring people together through bold flavours, local talent, and spaces that spark connection.
What began as a single gastro pub has grown into a movement.
Since launching Sheffield’s first food hall in 2018, we’ve built platforms – not just kitchens – for food entrepreneurs to thrive. Alfred Works is the next chapter: a buzzing hub where Birmingham’s diverse food scene takes place.
And about that name…
Alfred Works is housed in part of the iconic Custard Factory, once home to Bird’s famous custard empire. We kept the name as a nod to Alfred Bird himself, the man who made dessert history and accidentally invented egg-free custard to please his wife. Romantic, resourceful, and slightly ridiculous. We relate.
